Wanderlei training hard

Recently, Wanderlei Silva visited Southern California and made a stop to train with Rafael and the rest of King’s MMA at the Huntington Beach and Affliction locations. Wanderlei has been training with Rafael lately and that comes as no surprise since he is one of the best MMA and Muay Thai coaches in the world.

kings affliction

On Monday December 14th, King’s MMA moved to it’s new home at the Affliction training facility in Seal Beach. As the new official fight team for Affliction, King’s MMA now has access to one of a kind, and state of the art training facilities!

Boasting a full size boxing ring, octagon, heavy bags, weight lifting, and cardio machines, King’s MMA has taken a big leap towards becoming the best fight team in the world. No more excuses not to train, or become the best. We’ve set the bar, now its time to step up and become a champion!

We will still be holding training sessions at our original gym in Huntington Beach. All morning classes will start at 10:45 and will be held at the Affliction location. In addition, Monday and Wednesday MMA classes will start at 5:00pm at the Affliction warehouse. Tuesday and Thursday MMA classes, as well as all 730pm Muay Thai classes will be held at the Huntington Beach location.

Fighter Spotlight

Jamie “The Chosyn1″ Yager is an MMA fighter training under the tutelage of Rafael Cordeiro at King’s MMA in Huntington Beach Ca. Jamie has been training at King’s for one year and has been training martial arts for a total of two years. With a 6’2” frame, a fighter’s build and deadly-quick elbow strikes, Jamie Yager is not the kind of guy you’d ever, ever wanna pick a fight with. Jamie is an MMA warrior whose athletic, no-holds barred fighting style routinely destroys the toughest opponents.

Coming from a wrestling background, Jamie brings a solid knowledge of takedowns and the clinch into all his fights. Combined with super-precise, jawcrushing high kicks, Jamie’s racked up an impressive series of wins and national media attention. But through all this, “The Chosyn One” stays humble. “My hard work and efforts,” Jamie says, “only shine through God’s light”.

When asked about his aspirations, Jamie replied “I want to be a UFC champion”. With his natural athletic talents and skillful striking, there is no doubt that this is definately possible for this up and comer.

“My favorite fight was Chuck and Tito II, when I saw that fight I knew I wanted to be a fighter…This is what I was destined to do”. Jamie sees fighting as a way to challenge himself in the ultimate arena: Mixed Martial Arts. Posting himself in an arena where there is nobody to rely on but himself is his own personal test of will and determination.

“When you are out there, you are on your own. Its the pure test of abilities, because you know the guy is thinking he’s going to destroy you, and its you against him…”

Keep your eyes peeled for “The Chosyn1″. There are bigger and better things coming for fighter in the future.
